Natasha Khan

She is an ethereal superhuman.

I don't know how Fly Hunniez went so long without acknowledging her beauty.
I think it's because it goes without saying.

Variations on the Wedding Entrance Revisited

Jim and Pam's wedding? The writers are totally reading our blog because we are the only place that reported the choreographed "Forever" routine. You're welcome, America.

I am still upset about Jim's choice of Pam over Karen. Karen is an ambitious, witty, and independent woman. Pam is a mousy, annoying twit who dropped out of art school. Also, during the earlier seasons, she had really gross hair. Pam embodies the girl you settle for, Karen is the lady you dream of.
Now, I'll be the first to admit that my heart was a-goin' pitter-patter during the whole wedding episode. And, fair enough, I melted into a puddle of estrogen when Jim cut his tie, but let's be real here, it all would've been way better with Karen.

Fuck Pam, Team Karen 4eva.

Lipstick

So I made a discovery: red lipstick tasted just like Red Vines.
This leads me to suspect that Red Vines just taste like dye.
Why not just wear lipstick instead of eating Red Vines, then?

I used to be a huge lover of lipstick, but somewhere along the line, I decided to be like everyone else and wear sheer glosses that sparkle and shine and make hair stick to my mouth.

What sticky lipgloss deserves:

I don't like those glosses very much. So I went for Burt's Bees Pomegranate lip balm, which has a nice tint to it. But sometimes, I just need that little extra POP.

That's where lipstick comes in.
It helps that lipstick has recently seen a resurgence in popularity among Fly Hunniez everywhere.

I feel a little retro, a little modern, and a lot sexy when I wear lipstick.
Who cares if no one notices? I notice.

And I imagine that I look like this:

Beyoncé Knowles

Sometimes I forget something I like for a while.
Tonight I remembered one: Beyoncé Knowles.

Beyoncé has pretty much everything going on. Her resumé reads like Lil Rail's best flyers:
Singer
Actress
Dancer
Designer
A-Lister
Married to an rapper (namely: Jay-Z)

Not only is she, like, insanely talented vocally, but she is also awesome. Seriously.

She's on the list of top ten people I would want to be. Maybe top five.

But check it. What girl doesn't want to be...

...classy and sexy...

...sweet and sexy...

... or a little bit crazy and sexy?

Want to know the answer? Come on. You know already.
Every girl wants to be like that.

She doesn't pull crazy tabloid shit.
She's responsible and knows what she wants.
(I am writing this after reading about her dreams for Broadway and about how she's waiting to have kids until she can be a responsible mother, not focused on her career.)
She's crazy-talented and has a distinct sound and style.
And last but not least, she's gorgeous. And hot.

From the time she was "jumpin' jumpin' " with Destiny's Child until her recent turn as Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé is essentially irreplaceable.

(P.S. If anyone knows where I can get a bra like the one she wears in the "Irreplaceable" video, let me know. I want it.)

Ballerinas

It's essentially my greatest life-long dream to be a ballerina.

(My cousin Morgan and I were cute and in puzzle form.)

For a long time, I was sure I had some really serious talent and would put on shows in the house for paying customers, including my parents and indulgent aunts and uncles. I often even coerced my brother and cousin Christopher into wearing leotards and tutus. There is evidence, but I am not cruel enough to share it here.

After a decade of dance lessons and a lot of work, I finally came to an understanding with my body that I was never made to be a ballerina.
If you know me, you know that I am not tall, do not have long, graceful limbs, have little to no coordination, and in short, would never be a talented dancer, no matter how many piqué turns, relevés, and grand jetés I did in class.

Let's be real here. I sucked.

So I settle for being a fake ballerina for Halloween and loving art featuring dancers, especially ballerinas.

I do love me some Degas, but I also love me some mid-century photography.
So here!

Enjoy some lovely dancers, a lovely music video of a song about dancers, and then download said song. Then go see the band performing said song at the High Noon in the coming weeks.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead

Over winter break, not only did I reach absolute zero, I also journeyed to the center of the Earth. No, I don't have photographic evidence because technology gets funky in those sorts of conditions.

I had to decide on where I want to go for spring break (read: SPRING BREAK 2009 WOOOHOOO!). Space exploration was out of the question because I'm not of age to get rental vehicles. Out of body experiences are so 1950s Twilight Zone/Contact. And I've already been to Hogwarts like a gazillion times.

So, what's a girl to do?

Clearly, I have to time travel. Since the future is right now and now and now and now, I figure going into the past would be the best option.

And yes, I'm going solely to frolic with dinosaurs. That's it. Why else would anyone time travel?
Before I hop into my DeLorean and get my Jurassic Park on for the next week, I leave you with not one, but two presents to hold you over until my return, faithful readers (read: Intensity).

Passion Pit - Sleepy Head
Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Wallpaper. Dio Remix)
Such a good song. Such a good remix.

Get busy to it, commoners. I'm off to ride a Gigantosaurus!

Nooka Watches

By far the coolest watches ever invented.
Not only are they super hip, they actually serve a purpose- if you can figure out how to read them. Nooka watches do come with a steep price tag, but a small price to pay for the infinite popularity you will find while wearing this superb piece of artistry. La pièce-de-resistance of the watch world, Nooka watches are the sine qua non of any fly outfit.

Even the hip Mr. Kanye West sports the very limited glow in the dark version of their popular Zub watch. By very limited, they mean only 15 were produced. Of these 15, nearly all were given to Mr. West himself after concluding his glow-in-the-dark tour.

Get One. Your outfit will thank you.

Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung is slowly becoming my idol.
Nevermind, she definitely already is.
Idols don't have to actually contribute anything to society, right?
They just have to be pretty and dress perfectly and date Alex Turner...
